Facts & Info - Cleaning and polishing oxidized brass
A dirty brass candle polished with Glanol!
Older brass objects often have started oxidize, got a bit of stains and lost their former shine. If you do not belong to those who appreciate the aged brass, there are several options for cleaning and polishing untreated brass. This is how we gave an old brass candle holder with Glanol and a soft cotton cloth:
- First, remove the candle grease.
- Then apply Glanol in a even layer with a soft cloth so that the metal is not scratched. Glanol is a gentle polish without abrasive that removes dirt, gives gloss and a protective surface. It's good enough for all kinds of metals (except antique treated) and contains no toxins or acids.
- With a dry cloth, polish the metal until all dirt is gone and the surface is clear. The metal is now protected with a water repellent surface that prevents rust and corrosion.
