This Craftmans rise and fall pendant is an example of one of the first functional lighting. Since the bulbs at this time was so weak, it was handy to be able to draw the light closer when necessary. This model was first produced around 1880 and has always been popular but was most prevalent until the 1920s.
Finish: Polished brass
Light source: Ceramic E27 lamp holder (20W)
Height is adjustable: Ca 50 cm - 190 cm including shade
Shade: Mouth blown opal white glass (height 85 mm and bottom diameter 250 mm)
Diameter of ceiling plate: 168 mm
Cord: 2 meters dark brown textile cord
The lamp holder is fitted with a ceramic interior with a protruding edge, which all holders had until the end of the 1920s. The ceramic material has a heat resistance that far exceeds both bakelite and plastics. The cord is of the same type that was used during the 1880s - 1890s, when the cables were generally twisted and textile-covered. The color was at this time consistently dark brown.
You can also order the lamp with another shade such as blue, green, brass, round, etc. Please contact us via email or phone if you want the lamp in another version than shown on the picture.
The lamp meets Swedish harmonized European standard SS EN 605981.
