It is around the turn of the century 1900 that the new style Jugend is introduced in Sweden. A completely new type of design is created based on natures organic and soft lines.
As in previous decades, the walls of the living rooms are provided with panels of different heights. They are often made of oak or painted in imitation to look more expensive then they actually were. Lining and floor trims are relatively wide, about 11-12 cm and the Art Nouveau style emerges through a wavy design with several smaller profiles in the inner and outer edge, or through three parallel lines.
In the kitchen and serving aisle, wood panel is popular. The ceilings in the kitchen regions are often fitted wood panels as well. In the rest of the building such as bedrooms and hallways it is common for walls and ceilings to meet in a softly shaped hollow, either made of plaster or wood.
